Belarus, EU diplomats discuss cooperation in Eastern Partnership

MINSK, 11 October (BelTA) – Chairman of the Standing Commission on International Affairs of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Valery Voronetsky held a meeting with the EU Ambassadors-at-Large for the Eastern Partnership on 10 October, BelTA learned from the press service of the House of Representatives.

The meeting took place on the initiative of the ambassadors-at-large during their visit to Belarus to hold consultations on the preparations for the Eastern Partnership summit in Brussels, Belgium on 24 November 2017 and the elaboration of its final documents.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the state and prospects of Belarus-EU cooperation, focused on the problematic issues of cooperation within the Eastern Partnership. Belarus spoke in favor of pragmatizing cooperation and filling it with concrete mutually beneficial projects in the interests of consolidation, enhance competitive ability and security in Europe.

The EU delegation has comprised ambassadors supervising the Eastern Partnership issues Jan Hofmokl (Poland), Anna Westerholm (Sweden), and Adriaan Palm (Netherlands). Taking part in the meeting on Belarus’ behalf were Deputy Chairpersons of the Standing Commission on International Affairs of the House of Representatives Ivan Korzh, Olga Popko, and Dmitry Shevtsov.
