Mogilev Oblast governor hails work of agricultural sector during harvesting campaign

Hard work of our citizens lies behind the rich grain harvest, Chairman of the Mogilev Oblast Executive Committee Leonid Zayats said as he took part in the event to celebrate agricultural workers of Mogilev Oblast who had threshed one million tonnes of grain, BelTA has learned.

“Outstanding hard work lies behind the big grain harvest. I would like to congratulate and thank all agricultural workers of Mogilev Oblast for this rich harvest and for their personal contribution to the harvesting campaign,” Leonid Zayats noted. “This year we have performed well. The average yield was 34.4 centners per hectare, 7 centners more that in 2019. Five districts of the region have already finished the harvesting campaign. Almost all the districts have gathered by 10-80% of grain more than last year. I am sure that such a rich harvest will lay a solid basis for the development of the local economy,” he added.

“Every tonne is hard work. We need to work from dawn to dusk, collect every grain. Rains present a challenge, but we should not stop, because our work will contribute to the common prosperity,” Andrei Mamykin, a machine operator at the agricultural enterprise Firma Kadino, said.

Another employee of the enterprise, Mikhail Bodunov, usually works as a boiler operator, but joined the ranks of machine operators during the harvesting campaign. “I was invited to help the enterprise during the harvesting campaign. This is a difficult time, one cannot remain uninvolved, this is why I am here,” he said.

The harvesting campaign in Mogilev Oblast in 93% complete. This year’s gross harvest has already exceeded the last year’s figures by 230,000 tonnes. As many as 15 out of 21 districts of Mogilev Oblast reported the yield of over 30 centners per hectare. Shklov District took the lead with 35.8 centners per hectare.
